Trading Combine or Express Funded?
The Trading Combine is the classic evaluation: you reach a profit target — ten percent on the 50K account — without breaching the drawdown rules, then move into a funded account with a 90 percent profit split.
The Express Funded Account skips that step. You pay once and trade firm capital immediately, but with a profit split of only 50 to 70 percent. If you want to maximise your share, take the Combine; if you want to start without evaluation risk, take the Express.
Verdict
Topstep is the right choice if reliability matters more to you than the last percentage point of profit split. The end-of-day drawdown makes intraday swings bearable, pricing is transparent, and the firm has one of the longest payout histories in the futures segment.
Against it: a comparatively high profit target of ten percent and the cap at 150,000 US dollars. If you want larger accounts or flexible drawdown types, you will find them elsewhere.
Frequently asked questions
What is Topstep and how does it work?
Topstep is an established futures prop firm that has been in the market since the 2010s. It offers two programs: the Trading Combine as an evaluation and the Express Funded Account as instant funding. You trade with up to 90 percent profit split under an end-of-day drawdown model, which is less aggressive than intraday rules. With account sizes from 50,000 to 150,000 US dollars, Topstep suits beginners and experienced traders alike.
How much does Topstep cost per month?
Costs depend on the account model. The Combine 50K costs 89 US dollars per month, the 100K account 149 and the 150K account 199 US dollars. The Express Funded Account 50K is 149 US dollars. Beginners therefore start from 89 US dollars.
What is the difference between Trading Combine and Express Funded?
In the Trading Combine you first have to reach a profit target — ten percent on the 50K account, for example — to move into a funded account. The Express Funded Account is available immediately without a challenge: you pay once and get direct access. In return, the profit split of 50 to 70 percent is considerably lower than the 90 percent in the Combine.
How high is the profit split at Topstep?
In the Trading Combine you receive up to 90 percent profit split, one of the better figures in the market. The Express Funded Account sits below that at 50 to 70 percent.
Which platforms does Topstep support?
Topstep supports NinjaTrader, Tradovate and CQG. That lets you use your preferred platform and trade a broad range of CME futures.
