Three rules decide whether you pass
Not the entry price — that is almost identical across the entire field.
Drawdown type
Trailing pulls the loss limit up intraday with every new account high — including unrealised gains. End of day only once, after the close. Same trade, two completely different demands on your discipline.
Consistency rule
It caps how much of your total profit a single trading day may account for — usually 30 to 50 percent. Earn most of it in one day and your payout is withheld until the ratio is right again.
Payout terms
Minimum trading days, waiting periods and payout intervals differ widely. For most traders, the gap between a first payout after five days and after thirty matters more than the price difference.

Frequently asked questions
What is prop trading and how does it work?
In prop trading you trade a firm's capital instead of your own. First you complete an evaluation — often called a challenge or combine — in which you reach a profit target without breaching the loss limits. After that you receive a funded account and keep between 80 and 100 percent of the profits you generate, depending on the provider.
What is the difference between trailing and EOD drawdown?
With a trailing drawdown the loss limit moves up intraday with every new account high, including unrealised gains. Run twenty ticks into profit and give them back, and your limit has already moved. With an end-of-day drawdown it is adjusted only once per day after the close. EOD is considerably more forgiving for most traders.
What does the consistency rule mean?
It caps how much of your total profit a single trading day may account for — commonly 30 to 50 percent. If most of it comes from one day, the payout is withheld until the ratio is back in range. Some programs deliberately do without this rule.
What does a prop firm challenge cost?
Entry prices among the providers tested here range from 57 to 187 US dollars per month, depending on account size and program. Discount codes often save 20 to 70 percent of that. A reset after a failed challenge costs 30 to 50 percent of the original fee, depending on the provider.
How fast are payouts?
This varies considerably. Fast providers pay within 24 to 48 hours, others take five to seven business days. More important than processing time are the minimum trading days and waiting periods before you may request a payout at all.
How are prop trading profits taxed?
Payouts from a prop firm are generally not capital gains but income from a service, and are taxed accordingly. This is not tax advice — the treatment depends on your country of residence, so clarify it with your tax adviser.
Is prop trading regulated?
Trading firm capital is legal. The providers themselves are usually not regulated financial service providers, because trading takes place in a simulated environment under the provider's rules. There is accordingly no deposit protection, which makes choosing a reputable provider decisive.
How do I recognise a reputable prop firm?
Reliable signs are a verifiable payout history, clearly worded and publicly available rules, a support team you can actually reach, and several years in the market. Be sceptical of rules that change at short notice and of conditions that only become visible after purchase.
